It’s probably safe to say that middle school is a weird time for pretty much everyone. The awkwardness of trying to make friends combined with the physical changes of puberty at their most disruptive makes for a strange experience, all around.

The month of August, for me, has always had an air of anxiety.
There are a lot of reasons to travel, if a person is lucky enough to be able to do so.
Chapter 104 of Central Michigan Life has begun. This student newsroom has remained on campus since 1919 with a sole purpose to be the student body’s voice. There have been years where this mission has wavered — not allowing every student’s voice to be heard, or focusing too much on general university issues rather than the impacts they have on each human demographic we have on campus.

Ah, summer. It’s the time for eating ice cream at the beach and sharing s’mores around the campfire. And usually for me, the time to become obsessed with self-improvement.
It’s that time of year again where every media source, at least the ones I’m using, bombard users with gift ideas for Father’s Day. Of course, those ideas are limited to domestic-grade construction equipment and all things leather, for some reason.
I closed out my first year as an undergraduate student at CMU with a long car ride in a vehicle packed full of the items I’ve acquired for my dorm over the course of the last two semesters.
Gratitude is all I have.
In February of 2021, I began my career here at Central Michigan Life as a photographer. In my time here I have had to say many goodbyes to colleagues as they are graduating or as we part ways for semester breaks.

Things were looking up for me at the start of this summer. I was excited to be interning for the Traverse City Record Eagle and WCMU Public Radio.
One of the first classes I took at Central Michigan University ended with me in tears, eating lunch alone in my car.
With my Central Michigan Life application in one hand, camera bag in the other and new backpack strapped high on my shoulders, I walked out of Merrill Hall at 7:30 a.m. on the first day of my freshman year.
All year long we've demanded to have our voices heard, it's time to do it again.
This past year, we have been deeply inspired by the engagement of students across campus. From the vocal dissent around issues with campus dining to the protests about Lot 22.
We, the Idema-Brant-Demirkol Student Government Association (SGA) ticket aim to work toward accessibility, inclusivity, and progress at Central Michigan University.
