Women's Basketball VS Akron

Central Michigan's women's basketball team fell to Akron 65-57 on Saturday, Mar. 9 in McGuirk Arena. Senior center Rochelle Norris led CMU with 18 points and a career-high six blocks. The game was the team's senior night, and both Norris and graduate forward Nadège Jean were honored after the game. The loss ends CMU season at 4-14 in Mid-American Conference play and 6-22 overall.

Men's Basketball VS Eastern Michigan

Central Michigan's men's basketball team defeated Eastern Michigan 65-62 in overtime on Friday, Mar. 8 in McGuirk Arena. Sophomore guard Paul McMillan IV led CMU with 25 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Graduate guard Brian Taylor was honored before the game during senior night festivities. Taylor recorded a double-double with 14 points and 22 rebounds. With this being the last game of the regular season, CMU ends its season 12-6 in Mid-American Conference play and 18-13 overall. In the MAC Tournament, No. 4 CMU will play No. 5 Bowling Green in game two on Thursday, Mar. 4 at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio.

Women's Lacrosse VS Colorado

Central Michigan's women's lacrosse team fell to No. 19 Colorado 13-7 on Thursday, Feb. 29, at the CMU Lacrosse Complex. On offense, junior attack Sadie Hinkle lead CMU with two goals. The loss brought the team's overall record to 0-6. CMU will travel for its next game against No. 3 Northwestern on Sunday, Mar. 3, in Evanston, Illinois. 

Men's Basketball VS Ball State

Central Michigan men's basketball fell to Ball State 79-71 Tuesday, Feb. 27 in McGuirk Arena. Sophomore guard Paul McMillan IV led the team with a career high 25 points. The loss brings the team's overall score to16-12 and their conference score to 10-5. The Chippewas are now tied with Ohio for third place in the Mid-American Conference. 

Black Alumni Panel

Central Michigan University's RSO Coalition of Black Empowerment C.O.B.E hosts a Black Alumni Panel event on Tuesday, Feb. 27, in the UC Auditorium room 308. The alumni panel consisted of Noah Burks, Shanese Ross-Pierrie and Mary Henley who are all from different graduating classes. The Black History Month event was an opportunity for students to ask questions and gain insight into navigating college life.

Central Michigan University fell to University of Michigan 0-39, Sunday, Feb. 25, in McGuirk Arena. This match was Central's Senior/Alumni Day.

Gymnastics VS Kent State

Central Michigan's gymnastics team fell to Kent State 196.025 to 195.425 on Saturday, Feb. 24 in McGuirk Arena. The loss brings the Chippewa's record to 7-5 overall and 3-2 in MAC competition.

The Last of the Dragons Dress Rehearsal

Central Michigan University Studio Theatre presents the Last of the Dragons dress rehearsal, Wednesday, Feb. 21 in the Townsend Kiva. CMU senior Kaeleigh Casavant directed this play as part of her senior capstone. This play was adapted from the story by Edith Nesbit. ‘The Last of the Dragons’ was performed Feb. 22-23 at 7:00p.m. and Feb. 25 at 2:00p.m. 

Betas Got Jazz

Central Michigan senior Christiano Bermúdez hosts Betas Got Jazz: Influence and Importance of Jazz in Black History, Friday, Feb. 23, in Pearce Hall. This event was one of many in celebration of Black History Month on campus.  

24th Annual OBU Fashion Show

Central Michigan's Organization for Black Unity hosts the 24th Annual OBU Fashion Show Friday, Feb. 23, in Plachta Auditorium. The theme for the show was 'The 7 Sins of Fashion' including: sloth, envy, greed, lust, gluttony, wrath and pride. OBU was joined by Appeal Dance Team, ReaXtioN Dance and Henry Key.

"The Gospel" Black History Month Documentary

The MASS Office and WMCU host Black History Month Documentary: "The Gospel," Thursday, Feb. 22, in the Sarah and Daniel Opperman Auditorium. This event was one of many for the celebration of Black History Month on campus. 

Black Women in A.I.

Central Michigan University alumna and the founder of Black Women in A.I., Angle Bush, and Provost Nancy Mathews speak and discuss the topic of A.I., Wednesday, February 21, in Health Professions. Many of the topics discussed included diversity efforts, ethics, and the inclusion of A.I. in schools.

Basketball VS Bowling Green

Central Michigan's men's basketball team defeated Bowling Green 62-60, Tuesday, Feb. 20, in McGuirk Arena. Junior guard Anthony Pritchard was the leading scorer for the night with 15 points. The win brings the team to 10-3 in Mid-American Conference play and 16-10 overall. 

Queens of Rhythm

Black Girls Rock and Multicultural Academic Student Services hosts Queens of Rhythm: A Tribute to Black Female Music Icons as part of Black History Month events Tuesday, Feb. 20 in Pearce Hall. Presenters spoke about influential Black women in music throughout history, such as Aretha Franklin, Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson and more. The event concluded with a Kahoot that allowed participants to test their knowledge, with the opportunity for the top three winners to receive prizes.

Toilet Paper Toss

Central Michigan's men's basketball team defeated Western Michigan 69-42 on Saturday, Feb. 17 in McGuirk Arena. The night was CMU's Toilet Paper Toss game where everyone tossed toilet paper onto the court before the game. Junior guard Derrick Butler was CMU's player of the game with 24 points and nine rebounds. The win brings the team to 9-3 in Mid-American Conference play and 15-10 overall.

Gymnastics VS Bowling Green

 

Central Michigan's gymnastics team defeated Bowling Green with a score of 195.625 - 191.475 on Friday, Feb. 16 in McGuirk Arena. The win brings CMU to 3-1 in Mid-American Conference play and 7-4 overall. This being CMU's childhood cancer awareness meet, CMU showed support for the Ludington Childhood Cancer Campaign. Getting to walk out with CMU's team before the meet, Maci Jensen was the meet's special guest. Jensen's family receives support and information from the Ludington chapter as Maci was diagnosed with cancer a little over a year ago.

Black Care Starts Somewhere

The 3rd Annual 'Black Care Starts Somewhere' was hosted on Friday, February 16, in the Bovee UC Rotunda. The event was hosted by Christiano Bermúdez and Makayla Osborn, the event included a wig raffle, 'shopping' of hair care products/wigs and skin care products/informational presentation by Ku'Juana Quinn and Rachael Veasley.

Through the Lens

Central Michigan senior Ku'Juana Quinn hosts Through The Lens: Reimagining the role Black film has played in the realm of advocacy,  Tuesday, Feb. 13, in the Sarah and Daniel Opperman Auditorium. This event is one of many on campus for Black History Month 2024.
