Faith Behind Bars: Challenging Denial of Religious Rights in Prison
Student Advocates for Prison Reform and the Incarcerated, Muslim Student Association and Multicultural Academic Student Services hosts Faith Behind Bars: Challenging Denial of Religious Rights in Prison as part of Arab American Heritage Month events on Wednesday, April 17 in French Auditorium. CMU seniors Ku'Juana Quinn and Mahum Hakim presented about ways Muslims face discrimination while in prison, and addressed topics such as the first amendment and relevant lawsuits in Michigan. The event concluded with a Kahoot and an open discussion about ways students can be involved in allyship, advocacy and activism.
