Spectrum, Central Michigan University’s LGBTQ+ organization, will host the upcoming Fire Up All Night (FUAN) event to celebrate Pride Month on campus.

The event will be held from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, April 26, in the Student Activity Center. Fire Up All Night is a new addition to university programming this year, and this Saturday will mark the first Pride-centric FUAN event.

CeCe Tresenriter, president of Spectrum, said students are able to come and to enjoy a variety of activities that are inclusive for all students, featuring activities like a silent disco, swimming, yard games, Esports, a movie and relaxing crafts.

“We're focusing on making the event themed for Pride Month, but LGBTQ friendly in a way that we’re putting on activities that we know people that come to our club and attend our other events would enjoy,” Tresenriter said.

Of all the activities planned, Tresenriter highlighted that this FUAN will include a gender-inclusive swim time for students.

“The point of having a gender inclusive swim is that everybody shows up with the expectation that everybody's going to be there wearing what makes them comfortable, and to allow people who might not usually feel comfortable going to the SAC and swimming to know that they're within a group of people that are okay with them using public spaces,” she said.

Tresenriter encourages all students to go not only for free food and raffle prizes courtesy of CMU, but also because attending this event will allow the university to continue hosting FUAN events in the future.

“We’re putting it out there that everyone is welcome, and we want everyone to join us,” Tresenriter said. “There’s something for everybody. You don’t have to stay until 2 a.m., you can come for half an hour, and there will be something going on for you to enjoy.”
