Central Michigan University students will have the opportunity to engage in a conversation about gender equity in the workplace at an upcoming event hosted by Sexual Aggression Peer Advocates (SAPA) and LGBTQ Services.

SAPA, a student-led organization, provides advocacy and education on topics related to sexual aggression, while LGBTQ Services works to support and uplift CMU’s queer community.

The event, “SAPA x LGBTQ,” will take place at 4:30 p.m. on March 3 at the Center for Student Inclusion and Diversity (CSID). According to an email from LGBTQ Services & Gender Equity Programs, the event will cover key workplace issues such as discrimination, barriers to advancement and sexual harassment.

Attendees will learn about the history of feminism, the challenges women have faced in entering the workforce and how workplace harassment continues to impact professional environments. The discussion will also include actionable steps individuals and organizations can take to create safer and more inclusive workplaces.

Students interested in learning more about future events from LGBTQ Services can learn more by visiting their CMU webpage.
