Kikano resigns, clinic partnership paused
On Thursday, Central Michigan University announced Dr. George Kikano's intent to step down from his position as Executive Vice President of Health Affairs and dean of the CMU College of Medicine.
According to the university, President Neil MacKinnon is working with Kikano on the leadership transition, which does not have a timeline.
The same release announced that, because of the leadership transition, CMU will pause its plans to "consider external partners" for the CMU campus health clinics.
MacKinnon appointed Tina Thompson, who is currently the senior associate dean for academic affairs, to serve as the interim dean of the College of Medicine and start "sometime later this year," according to the release.
The university is planning to launch a national search for the next leader of the College of Medicine, with the first step being a proposal for search firms interested in supporting the search.
"The president will appoint a search committee that will include CMU College of Medicine faculty, staff, students and community partners," according to the release.
