"One of Them Days" is a comedy starring Keke Palmer and SZA about two roommates who have to make enough money to pay their rent in 24 hours and insanity ensues.

Druex (Palmer) is the responsible roomate, and Alyssa (SZA) is the lazy one. In an attempt to kill two birds with one stone, Alyssa sends her boyfriend to deliver the rent money for the week. Both Alyssa and Druex then discover that her boyfriend has skipped town with their money. and it's their responsibility to get it back in a 24-hour window.

This movie was a really interesting watch as it has a tight comedic script with the same vibes as movies like "Superbad" but is filmed beautifully, almost like an art house film.

Not only was the film beautifully made, but it was really funny. Some of the jokes went over my head because they weren't directed toward my taste in comedy. But a solid amount of comedy still worked for me.

Palmer is great in this movie. Her character was very relatable and her serious acting was gripping! She was a clear communicator and was a strong comedic lead, while SZA also did a great job being the comedic foil to Palmer's character. Her acting was solid overall.

I did have a few problems with the movie.

It does rely on "gross out" humor from time to time but more of a complaint pertaining to taste in comedy. I do think the second half of the movie flies off the rails a bit when the cartel people are introduced. It was an unnecessary addition and dragged out the movie longer than it should be.

There's also a side-plot with SZA's boyfriend and who he was cheating on her with that was very predictable. I felt wasted time when I knew where the plot was going. A lot of the time it was these two characters going to the destination the main characters were before and felt repetitive.

Overall, I think the movie is a solid 8/10. It's a great movie to see in theaters in the time of gloomy January.
