Larry Joe Campbell, an actor, comedian and author, will return to Central Michigan University, his alma mater, for a day of fun and laughter during a special dual event presented by Sleepy Dog Books and CMU.

On Thursday, Jan. 30, Campbell will showcase his latest novel, "Remember That One Time," with two appearances in Mount Pleasant.

The first event, a meet and greet, will take place from 12 to 2 p.m. at Sleepy Dog Books, located at 120 E. Broadway St. Attendees will have the opportunity to preorder his book, receive a signed bookmark and take a photo with the author.

Riley Justis works at Sleepy Dog Books.

“The event on Thursday night will be a fun-filled show combining book release, improv comedy and even some singing," Justis said. "CMU students will join Larry, and there may be opportunities for the audience to participate."

Later that evening, Campbell will headline a comedy show from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Plachta Auditorium in Warriner Hall on CMU’s campus.

The event will include performances by CMU students, who will bring scenes from "Remember That One Time" to life. In addition to acting, the show will feature singing, improvisation and opportunities for audience participation.

Both events are free and open to the public.
