The Mid-Michigan community will have an opportunity to unleash their art skills this weekend.

Art Reach of Mid-Michigan, a non-profit organization that supports local artists, is hosting a needle felting class for beginners from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1. It will take place in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway St. in Mount Pleasant.

According to the Art Reach website, the class will include the learning of needle felting techniques, such as creating soft forms, layering and shaping, to make a needle-felted garland.

The recommended age for this class is 12 and up.

It costs $38.25 to register for the class, and all supplies will be included. A membership is not required, but members will receive 15% discount.

Kim Bigard is the education coordinator at Art Reach and instructor for this class. She has been at Art Reach for 15 years and has had a passion for art since her childhood.

"We pride ourselves on offering a multitude of different classes," Bigard said. "You can build on (your skills) session-by-session and really expand your artistic abilities".

Art Reach provides classes year-round for kids, adults, beginners and experts to make arts such as painting, drawing and jewelry making.
