Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) has appointed Dr. Ashok Kondur, of West Bloomfield, and Jeff Stoutenburg, of Midland, to fill the vacant roles on Central Michigan University’s Board of Trustees. The two new members are succeeding former trustees Isaiah Oliver and Michael Sandler, whose terms will expire at the end of December.

Kondur and Stoutenburg will assume their roles on Jan. 1, 2025, and will serve on the board until Dec. 31, 2032.

Kondur is an interventional cardiologist at Dearborn Cardiology and director of mechanical circulatory support and complex and high-risk coronary intervention at Henry Ford Health. He is also chairman of the Garden City Hospital Division of Cardiology.

Stoutenburg is the director of state government affairs at the Detroit Regional Chamber and has earned both his bachelor’s degree in political science and master’s degree in public administration from CMU.

Stoutenburg serves on the board of the CMU Research Corporation, on the board of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, as president of the Michigan Economic Development Foundation and serves on the executive committee of the Michigan Manufacturers Association.

In a press release from CMU, President Neil MacKinnon stated he was excited to welcome the new trustees.

“I look forward to introducing Trustee Dr. Kondur to the CMU community and to welcoming Trustee Stoutenburg back to campus,” CMU President Neil MacKinnon said. “Their experience and expertise will be outstanding additions to the Board and to our university.”
