Fire Up All Night kicks off with Fall Fest
The Office of SAI hosts the first of many late night events
With finals season just around the corner, the Office of Student Activities and Involvement are rebranding the previously known Up All Night event to Fire Up All Night featuring a series of late night events over the weekend. This provides students with a stress-free environment where they can relax and connect with friends.
The Office of Student Activities and Involvement (SAI) will host the Fall Fest as part of the Fire Up All Night series along with Central Michigan University Program Board, Student Government Association and Residence Housing Association from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Nov. 23 in the Student Activities Center.
Kathlyn Allmacher, the president of the Program Board, said the Fall Fest event was funded by the Division of Student Affairs to give five RSOs on campus an opportunity to apply and receive $2000 to put together their own Fire Up All Night event guided by the SAI office.
Allmacher said the goal is to provide funding for RSOs to host their own events and bring their ideas to life.
“Since RSOs don’t get as much funding, we're giving them the opportunity to make whatever dreams they have as an organization come true that they wouldn’t be able to otherwise,” Allmacher said.
Hadlee Rinn is the coordinator of student activities in the Office of SAI.
Rinn said after applications close, the Assistant Director of Student Activities and Marketing Noah Burks, and herself will assemble a committee of individuals to approve which RSOs will receive funding for their own event.
“Some of the stipulations RSOs need to follow are that it needs to be on a weekend in the SAC, it has to be free and the event can’t act as a fundraiser for the RSO,” Rinn said.
Rinn said that the RSOs will have someone from the SAI advising them for their event to make sure everything runs smoothly when planning their event.
Allmacher said the purpose of the series, including Fall Fest, is to provide students with an alcohol-free event that is late night and over the weekend.
“There will be a wide variety of activities such as silent disco, inflatables, craft room, gift giveaways, pickup sports games and Esports,” Allmacher said. “We will also have a mocktail station and hot chocolate along with Jimmy Johns and pizza being delivered throughout the night.”
The Fall Fest is a free event for all students.
