CRIME LOG: CMUPD handles person with knife, larceny, traffic offenses

The following incidents were among those handled by Central Michigan University Police Department from Oct. 3 to Oct 16.

Oct. 4

At 9:45 a.m. CMUPD received a report that a 19-year-old female made a baseless threat. CMUPD investigated, then turned the case over to the prosecutor for review.

At 11 p.m. CMUPD received a report from a concerned witness that an 18-year-old female exited a Fabiano bathroom holding a knife. The individual was asked to leave campus until the case was resolved.

Oct. 9

At 7 p.m. a 24-year-old male pulled the fire alarm in Grawn Hall. CMUPD responded to the report and identified the person. They learned there had been a misunderstanding: The person thought the fire alarm would open the door. The case was closed and turned over to the CMU Office of Student Conduct.

Oct. 10

At 12:30 p.m. a 61-year-old male reported that someone had stolen tools from his car, parked by Merriott. There are no leads.

Oct. 12

At 2:30 a.m. CMUPD arrested a 23-year-old female for a second offense of operating while intoxicated with a headlight out. She was taken to Isabella County Jail.

Oct 13

At 12:30 a.m. CMUPD observed a vehicle on Washington Street with its headlight out. Previously that evening officers had warned that driver about the black headlight, driving outside the limits of their graduated driver’s license and not having the license with them. This time the individual was ticketed for these three reasons.

Oct 14

At 2 p.m. CMUPD received a report of someone sleeping on benches. CMUPD checked them. On Oct. 15 they determined the 44-year-old male was a noncompliant sex offender and arrested him.

Oct. 15

At 1:15 CMUPD made a traffic stop by Taco Bell where they identified a driver as having a felony warrant for the unauthorized use of a vehicle. The 28-year-old male was taken to jail.

Oct 16

At 2:30 a.m. CMUPD stopped a 26-year-old male on Broomfield and Washington Streets. He was arrested for a second offense with a suspended license and taken to Isabella County Jail.
