CMU soccer falls to Kent State
Central Michigan women's soccer traveled to Kent, Ohio to take on Kent State University for KSU's senior day Sunday where it fell to the Golden Flashes, 3-2.
CMU falls to 4-6-4 on the season and 2-2-3 in conference play.
The Golden Flashes started the scoring early with junior defender Kelsey Salopek finding the net on the first shot of the game only a minute into play. The goal gave Kent State the early 1-0 lead.
The Chippewa offense responded quickly at the 11-minute mark as Jaelyn Dobrowolski recorded her first goal of the season, evening the score at one.
The rest of the first half was a defensive stalemate with CMU goalkeeper Allison LaPoint registering two crucial saves back-to-back to keep the score tied going into halftime.
Coming out of the locker room, Kent State's offense looked rejuvenated and claimed a 2-1 lead only a minute into the second half.
At the 62-minute mark a CMU foul gave Kent State midfielder Siena Stambolich a penalty kick, allowing her to extend the lead to 3-1.
However, with 10 minutes left in the game, the Chippewa offense found it's stride with junior Lauren Walker finding a goal to make it a 3-2 ballgame.
Even after a rally where Central Michigan got four shots on goal in the final 10 minutes, the game ended 3-2.
The Chippewas will look to bounce back at home on Friday when they host Bowling Green at 7 p.m.
