Provost Mathews resigns, Dean Lancaster steps in

Central Michigan University Executive Vice President and Provost Nancy Mathews resigned, effective immediately, Tuesday, according to a release from University Communications. 

There was no explanation as to why she submitted her resignation, but according to the release, President Bob Davies has appointed Paula Lancaster to the interim position. 

Lancaster is also the dean of the College of Education and Human Services, and in the interim provost position, will work with other academic leaders to push the strategic plan forward, according to the release. 

“I am thankful for Provost Mathews’ service over the past two years,” Davies said in the release. “I look forward to working with Dr. Lancaster in the months ahead as we build momentum for CMU and make progress on initiatives vital to our academic mission.” 

The release also said Davies will be working with the university Board of Trustees to position the next president to search for a new provost/ executive vice president.
