Crime Log: CMUPD handles digital harassment, unregistered drivers

The following incidents were among those handled by Mount Pleasant Police Department and Central Michigan University Police Department from Sept. 16 to Sept. 21.

Sept. 16

CMUPD ticketed a 26-year-old driver at 11:20 p.m. on Broomfield Road for driving with no insurance.

Sept. 18

At 3 p.m. CMUPD received a report from a 35-year-old female that she had received a scam email containing threats for money online. No suspect could be identified.

At 10:45 p.m. CMUPD pulled over a 20-year-old male offender for a traffic offense on Central and East Campus Drive. The vehicle had no insurance, and its registration had expired. The driver acknowledged he had no license or insurance and said they cost a lot. CMUPD issued a citation and the vehicle was towed.

Sept. 19

At 11:45 a.m. a 43-year-old female reported a suspicious vehicle that she said was following her from home to campus. CMUPD identified the person in the suspicious vehicle as someone who worked for a private detective company.

Sep. 20

At 2:34 p.m. CMUPD received a report of assault from a 29-year-old female after her 31-year-old friend grabbed her arm during an argument in the Robinson Food Pantry. CMUPD turned the case over to student conduct. Nobody pursued charges.

Sept. 21

At 6 p.m. CMUPD received a report that an 18-year-old female’s locked bike had been stolen from Sweeney Hall sometime over the past week. No suspects are identified at this time.

At 6:46 p.m. CMUPD got a report that a person on campus received a message asking for inappropriate pictures. The suspect is unknown.
