Western Michigan senior midfielder Emily Pagett kicks the ball over Central Michigan senior defender Ashley Scesniak's head on Sunday, Sept. 29, in the CMU Soccer Complex.

With 10 minutes left in the game and the score tied at zero, Central Michigan soccer goalkeeper Allison LaPoint stopped a huge chance from Western Michigan midfielder Jenna Blackburn.

The save kept the rivalry matchup tied as it ended in a 0-0 draw on Sunday.

Along with saving the game, LaPoint stopped all three shots on goal that came her way.

Over 500 people came out to support. With the game being “act like a hooligan” day, cowbells were given out, creating a high-energy atmosphere.

“The crowd was awesome,” head coach Jeremy Groves said. “This is the kind of atmosphere we want.”

CMU started out slow to begin the game when the Broncos put the first two shots on goal which were saved by LaPoint.

After that point the game settled in and both defenses went to work as they shut down each other finishing the half scoreless.

CMU came out swinging in the second half, most of the pressure was on the side of WMU. Even with the five shots on goal, the Chippewas couldn’t find the back of the net, leading to the draw.

Both teams came into this matchup with zero losses in Mid-American Conference play as this trend continues after the draw.

Central Michigan hasn't lost a match in five straight opportunities, totaling three wins and two ties during the stretch.

The Chippewas will head on the road to face off against Toledo at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
