The Hidden Blood: Learn About Armenian Genocide event will be held on Tuesday, April 23, in the Sarah and Daniel Opperman Auditorium at the Park Library. Andre Mirijanian, a freshman and MAC scholar at Central Michigan University, will host this MAC-approved event from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

With decades of conflict, Mirijanian said that the event will focus on the Armenian Genocide of 1915. It will include the Nagorno-Karabakh conflicts that have continued to emerge in recent years, including the most recent conflicts in 2023 that will acknowledge the over 100,000 Armenian residents who fled with fear of persecution.

“I hope many people come just to learn about it, and I hope once they see this event, they’ll try to do something about it because if not many people talk about it, no one will,” Mirijanian said.

Mirijanian is bringing guest speaker Dzovinar Hamakordzian, a board member of the Armenian National Committee of America. He said the event will include a PowerPoint presentation, discussion and props, including pins inspired by the forget-me-not flower that symbolizes the remembrance of the Armenian Genocide.
