CMU baseball pitcher Adam Mrakitsch named MAC Co-Pitcher of the Week
After tossing his first complete game of the season for Central Michigan baseball on Friday, sophomore left-handed pitcher Adam Mrakitsch was named Mid-American Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week.
The conference announced on Monday that Kent State’s Mitch Scott was the other pitcher to receive the award.
Mrakitsch’s award-winning effort came in game one of the Chippewas’ three-game series against Ball State, in which they swept the Cardinals. CMU came out on top 9-1 behind Mrakitch’s performance, which was highlighted by 10 punchouts and just two hits let up.
The only run scored by BSU came via a fourth-inning solo home run.
After spending most of last season coming out of the bullpen, Mrakitsch, a Howell native, has taken on a full-time starting role with the Chippewas this season. In nine starts, he has compiled a record of 5-2 across 57 and one third innings along with an ERA of 3.77.
Mrakitsch currently leads the pitching staff in innings pitched, wins and strikeouts. He also boasts the lowest ERA among the starting rotation.
Following the series sweep of BSU, both teams have a conference record of 10-5, with CMU holding the head-to-head advantage.
