CRIME LOG: CMUPD investigates larcenies, suspicious incident
The following incidents were among those handled by the Central Michigan University Police Department in the period from April 14 to April 24.
April 14
CMUPD responded to a larceny at 2:18 p.m. in Brooks Hall on the campus of CMU. A university computer was stolen from an office. The case remains under the investigation.
April 16
A sexual assault was reported at 1:30 a.m. in Woldt Hall. The case remains under investigation.
A hit and run accident happened at the Court Marriot Hotel parking lot. A vehicle hit a parked vehicle left without leaving any information. The alleged offender, a 21-year-old female, was identified and charged with failing to report.
April 17
Larceny from a motor vehicle was reported on a Student Activity Center parking lot. It turned out the incident happened in the victim's home before coming to SAC. Their wallet with all the cards and cash was stolen. A fraud transaction on one of the credit cards was identified. The case remains under the investigation.
April 18
CMUPD helped with a medical assist at 3:53 p.m. in Pearce Hall. A female, 22, fell of a few stairs and injured her ankle. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
CMUPD assisted a victim of a fishing scam. A 22-year-old reported that their email account had been compromised. CMUPD worked with the CMU Information Technology to investigate the case. The victim got control of their account. The suspect was not identified.
April 20
A traffic offense occurred between Main Street and Bennet Avenue. A vehicle was stopped for not having an insurance. A driver, female, 50, was issued a traffic citation.
Another traffic offence took place between E. Bellows and Elizabeth streets A CMUPD officer stopped the vehicle for not having an insurance. A driver, male, 30, was issued a citation for driving without a license.
April 21
A suspicious situation occurred in Pearce Hall. A faculty member reported that an unknown individual attempted to sit in their class. The faculty member hadn’t seen the individual previously. They asked the individual to leave and they complied. The person was not identified.
CMUPD delivered a warrant at Pine and Illinois streets. Female, 44, was arrested and transported to jail.
April 22
An officer stopped a vehicle for having an expired license plate between the North Mission Street and Pickard Road. Male, 42, was issued a citation for no registration.
April 24
Male, 20, reported his license plate stolen from his vehicle in campus parking lot 39. The suspect was not identified.
