CMU gymnastics places second at West Virginia Tri-Meet
Central Michigan gymnastics produced its season best score of 196.500 as it took second against Big 12 opponent West Virginia (197.325) and Atlantic-Coast Conference Pittsburgh (196.125) on Sunday.
West Virginia had the lead the entire meet after its first rotation on vault where all the gymnasts that competed scored a 9.800 or higher.
CMU junior Elizabeth Cesarone scored her career best on vault with 9.925, tying with the Mountaineer’s Abbie Pierson.
Freshman Luciana Alvarado-Reid took first place on bars with 9.875.
The Chippewas were not able to crack the top five on beam, however seniors Hannah DeMers and Ashley Veglucci tied for third on floor alongside WVU’s Ellen Collins with 9.900.
CMU recorded its season best score on vault with a 49.175, surpassing its score earlier in the season against Iowa State.
The Chippewas took third in the all-around with DeMers’ 39.375. Alvarado-Reid took fourth with a career best 39.325.
Central Michigan will compete against Kent State in its fifth-straight away meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Kent, Ohio.
