Downtown Mount Pleasant to kick off winter season with holiday events
Downtown Mount Pleasant is hosting its Winter Market, kids' entertainment, Breakfast with Santa and other family events on Dec. 2 and 3.
The Mount Pleasant City Blog website said “downtown Mount Pleasant will be filled with holiday spirit,” as it celebrates “a community tradition for almost three decades.”
Dec. 2
Revelers can shop the Winter Market and visit Candy Cane Lane from 5 to 8 p.m. on Broadway Street between Main and Franklin Streets.
The Winter Market will have crafts and foods for sale. Candy Cane Lane will offer children’s games, live performances, hayrides and visits with Santa and his reindeer
Dec. 3
Saturday morning will start with the Jingle All-The-Way Kids Fun Run and the adult 5K and 5 Mile Run. The races start at Max & Emily’s, 125 E. Broadway St., at 7:50, 8:25 and 8:30 a.m. According to the city blog website, the money raised from the runs will benefit Toys for Tots.
From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., people can join Santa for a pancake breakfast at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall, 209 S. Franklin St. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 10 and under. The breakfast is free for children under 4 years old.
Tickets for the breakfast can be purchased at the Mount Pleasant Parks and Recreation office, located inside City Hall at 320 W. Broadway St. According to the City of Mount Pleasant website, money raised goes to the Sacred Heart Academy Athletic Association.
The day will end at 6 p.m. with a parade, which will start at Main and Illinois streets and goes down to the Main and Broadway streets. B’s Music Shop will accompany the parade as the Grand Marshall.
Registration for events
The Jingle All-The-Way Kids Fun Run, 5 Mile Run, 5K Walk/Run, Winter Market vendors, parade entry and volunteer applications require prior registration.
Applications and registrations can be found at the City of Mount Pleasant website. The application deadline for Winter Market vendors and the parade was Nov. 16.
