After a second-half comeback against Buffalo last Wednesday, freshman quarterback Bert Emanuel Jr and senior defensive end Thomas Incoom were named Mid-American Conference Players of the Week on Monday.

The freshman signal-caller Emanuel was named MAC Offensive player of the week after he rushed for 293 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries in last week's game against Buffalo.

Emanuel ended with 293 rushing yards, the most by a CMU quarterback and the fourth-most ever recorded by a Chippewa.

Working in a three-man quarterback rotation, Emanuel has shown his ability to run when he saw his first collegiate snaps against Northern Illinois, but he broke through against Buffalo to lead the Chippewas to a 31-27 win.

Trailing 24-7 at the half, Emanuel came out in the first drive of the second half for a 75-yard run into the endzone igniting the Chippewas for a turnaround.

Incoom has been a reliable player for the Chippewas defense all season. He has been part of the reason for the Chippewas' recent spark during competitions.

Against Buffalo, Incoom's career performance of 13 tackles earned him Defensive Player of the Week. He had three tackles for loss and one sack.

Incoom now has 9.5 sacks and 16.5 tackles for loss this year. Entering the game against Buffalo he was ranked No. 4 nationally in sacks and No. 9 in tackles for loss.

Entering Western Michigan week, Incoom ranks No. 3 in sacks and No. 6 in tackles for loss.

The Chippewas will host rivals Western Michigan on Wednesday at Kelly/Shorts Stadium at 8 p.m.
