Audrey Whiteside Named MAC's Top Offensive Player, five Chippewas earn conference honors
Central Michigan lacrosse junior Audrey Whiteside was named the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Year, the conference announced Thursday.
Whiteside is one of five Chippewas to earn league honors. She was joined on the first team by teammates Courtney Burke and Jillian Baldwin, while Maggie Diebold and Brennan Paddy were both named to the second team.
Whiteside finished the season with 71 points, scoring 40 goals and 31 assists. The midfielder ranked second in the MAC in points per game and assists per game, and fifth in goals per game at the end of the regular season. She earned second team honors in 2021.
The Chippewas finished in a three-way tie for the MAC regular season championship and are hosting the MAC Tournament. They won their semifinal matchup with Kent State 15-5 and will play Robert Morris in the championship at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The tournament champion earns the league's berth in the NCAA Tournament. CMU has never made the NCAA tournament, which could change with a win Saturday.
