Soaring Eagle announces April 4 opening for new Ascend Sportsbook
Michigan's 13th retail sportsbook is set to open in Mount Pleasant next week.
Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort announced it will open its Ascend Sportsbook on Monday, Apr. 4 – the day of the NCAA Tournament championship game.
The grand opening starts at 4 p.m. and will feature guest appearances from Michigan State University 2000 College Champions Morris Peterson and Mateen Cleaves.
“Ascend Sportsbook is the perfect spot,” said Kristina Griffus, director of iGaming and sports betting operations. “It’s a great place to watch a game and it really has all the elements that make for a great sportsbook. It’s an energetic game-day atmosphere, has plenty of TV’s, and you can’t beat the food and drinks.”
Saginaw Chippewa Gaming Enterprises, owned by the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, announced last November that it would be partnering with Kambi Group plc. to bring sports betting to the casino.
According to Soaring Eagle's Sportsbetting Retail House Rules, wagering is strictly prohibited by any person under the age of 18. Griffus said resources will be available for new participants
"People who are not familiar with sports betting and may be new to sports betting will have resources available for them to learn more about it," Griffus said. "We'll have sports Betting 101 materials available beginning next week."
The Ascend Sportsbook grand opening will also feature live music and drink specials.
Soaring Eagle is also nearing plans to make an online casino and sportsbook in the near future.
Online casino gaming and sports betting were legalized in Michigan last year when Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed bipartisan legislation allowing it in 2019.
