Junior Hannah DeMers celebrates after her teammate Sierra DeMarinis finishes her floor exercise routine, Friday Feb. 11, in McGuirk Arena.

CMU gymnastics added to its running total of Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week honorees this season as Hannah DeMers was awarded the honor on Tuesday for the third time this season; her career total for the award now sits at seven.

On Sunday in CMU’s win over Kent State, DeMers posted marks of 9.900+ in both the floor exercise and the vault. Additionally, she posted an all-around score of 39.550 - a season-best for the junior out of Canton, MI. Her contributions helped Central post its season-high mark of 196.650, which was the highest mark in the MAC to date.

In the impressive effort, DeMers claimed a win in the vault rotation, and earned second-place finishes in the other three events.

Central Michigan’s squad has now boasted the recipient of MAC Gymnast of the Week in four separate weeks this season. In addition to DeMers’ three, senior Sierra DeMarinis earned the award for her performance against Western Michigan and Michigan State on Feb. 11th.

CMU returns to competition on Friday, Mar. 4th for its final regular-season away meet in Champaign, Ill. The Chippewas will then return home for their regular-season finale in Mt. Pleasant the following week before the MAC Championships begin on Mar. 19th in Ypsilanti.
