Lacrosse notches third straight win

CMU continued its momentum Thursday, defeating Saint Francis University 18-6. 

The Chippewas are now 3-2 on the season and are currently on a 3-game win streak. CMU has scored 52 goals during this 3-game win streak, outscoring their opponents 52-23

The Chippewas wasted no time jumping out in front, taking an 11-4 lead into the halftime break. Senior Maggie Diebold and junior Amanda Hilderbrandt each notched hat tricks before the break, with Hilderbrandt notching four goals. 

Diebold, meanwhile, holds the team lead in goals with 11 through the team’s first five games.

CMU kept its foot on the gas in the second half scoring 7 goals, 5 of those coming from a dominant third quarter. The Chippewas only gave up 2 goals in the whole second half.

Junior Kendall Hoyt led the dominant third quarter, scoring 3 goals in the quarter. Hoyt finished the game with a team leading 5 goals.

The Chippewas saw 8 different players find the back of the net.

The team kept up the emphasis with their shot quantity, putting up 30 shots total in the game, with 27 of those shots being on goal. CMU has out shot their opponents in the last three games.

CMU will head back home Sunday March 6 for a tough test against Michigan University.
