CMU football learns 2022 schedule
Central Michigan football officially knows its schedule for the 2022 season.
On Friday, the Mid-American Conference unveiled its full schedule for the 2022 football season. The Chippewas will host a total of six games, a number equal to that of their road dates.
CMU will play five mid-week games, with three Wednesday games and one apiece on Thursday and Friday throughout the year. It opens the season with a matchup at Oklahoma State on Thursday, Sept. 1. The Chippewas close the season with a showdown at Eastern Michigan on Nov. 25.
The matchup at Oklahoma State should be familiar to some, as its the first time these two schools will meet since the Chippewas pulled off a historic, last second 30-27 upset victory over the Cowboys.
The non-conference slate includes two Power Five opponents: Oklahoma State and Penn State. Rounding out the early portion of the schedule are matchups with South Alabama and FCS opponent Bucknell.
CMU hosts rival Western Michigan on Wednesday, Nov. 16 in its penultimate game of the season. The Chippewas, who finished 9-4 with a 6-2 mark in conference play, visits defending MAC champion Northern Illinois on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
In addition to its five West Division opponents, the Chippewas will play crossover games with the East Division's Bowling Green, Buffalo and Akron.
