Paupore sets two new personal bests in two-day track meet
Central Michigan University’s track and field team traveled to Grand Valley State University for the Big Meet Friday and Saturday.
No team scores were kept at the meet, but CMU performed well. Freshman Emily Paupore led the team, setting personal best times in the mile and 3,000-meter run.
On Friday, Paupore placed fourth in the 3,000-meter run with a personal best time of 9:54.24. She beat her previous best of 9:57.15 when she ran it at the GVSU Mike Lints Alumni Open.
Paupore added a second-place finish in the mile run Saturday with a personal best time of 4:57.44. Paupore beat her previous best time of 5:12.99 when she ran it at the Meyo Invitational.
CMU thrower Mohogany Wells posted two top-10 finishes during the weekend. Wells finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 13.52 meters and eighth in the weight throw with a throw of 17.12 meters. Wells was just short of setting personal records for both events.
CMU saw nine other top-ten finishes as freshman Aliyah Boeve was third in the weight throw throwing 16.92 meters and junior Rebecca Herman placed fifth in the shot-put throwing 13.51 meters.

Sophomore Hayley Manners finished in sixth place in the long jump jumping 5.86 meters; Sophomore Alyssa Vandergriff placed seventh in the high jump jumping 1.64 meters; Freshman Natalie Newcombe finished in sixth place in mile run running 5:05.91; Sophomore Anya Turner finished in eighth place in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:03.94; Freshman Jelena Prescott finished in tenth place in the 3,000-meter run running 10:18.22. Freshman Lindsey Clarke finished in ninth place in the triple jump jumping 10.7 meters and Sophomore Tricia Pierce finished in tenth place the pole vault at 3.56 meters.
CMU will travel to Ann Arbor on Feb. 19 to compete in the University of Michigan’s Michigan Silverstone Invitational.
