Gurtiza claims second MAC honor
With Central Michigan volleyball staring at its final match of the 2021 season, freshman libero Aly Gurtiza earned Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week honors.
In the Chippewas 3-1 win over Toledo Nov. 12, Gurtiza recorded 24 digs and five assists. On Nov. 13, she broke through 500 career digs with a 26 dig performance in CMU’s 3-1 loss to Toledo.
Although Gurtiza missed time this year due to injury, she complied 20-plus digs in 16 matches.
The Chippewas wrap up their regular season at McGuirk Arena against Eastern Michigan on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m.
