State Police investigating assault and possible homicide
Two men were arrested and one woman was found dead Wednesday after law enforcement began an investigation into a reported felonious assault.
The Michigan State Police said they responded to a Mount Pleasant hospital Wednesday after the reported assault took place. The uncooperative victim sustained severe injuries requiring medical treatment, according to a Sept. 24 MSP press release.
Troopers worked with city police and Saginaw Chippewa Police Department to uncover possible leads. This led officers to a residence in Union Township where they found three men.
When officers attempted to make an arrest on Thursday, the three men fled. They crashed their car, causing two non-life-threatening injuries before officers from the Mid-Michigan Investigative Narcotics Team detained all three men. The two injured were treated at a Mount Pleasant Hospital.
Officers went back to search the residence and found a deceased woman. Further investigation identified the woman and that two of the three men suspected of the homicide, according to the MSP release.
The suspects, identified as a 19-year-old Mount Pleasant man and a 20-year-old Mount Pleasant man were lodged in Isabella County Jail.
Police said this is a closed incident with no threat to the public
Due to the ongoing nature of the situation, the names of the suspects and the deceased woman have not been released.
