Highland senior Tess Ware and Howell junior Michael Livingston have accepted positions as Central Michigan Life Editor-in-Chief for the summer and fall respectively.

The Central Michigan University Board of Student Publications selected the two students for their positions at its semesterly meeting last week.

Ware began writing for CM Life in Fall 2020 as a staff reporter. She will spend the summer covering events within the Mount Pleasant community. She'll also focus on the impact COVID-19 continues to have at the university.

“I really enjoy working at CM Life, so it’s really cool to feel like I’m giving more to it and doing more than just reporting,” Ware said.

Livingston started reporting for CM Life in 2018 and serves as the current managing editor. He called his time at the student-run newspaper an “essential part" of his college experience.

Livingston expressed that he looks forward to mobilizing the CM Life staff. Documenting student life and engaging with the student body more will be central during his Fall 2021 term. Livingston also said he'll continue CM Life's transition into the digital age by expanding multimedia efforts.

"Pandemic or not, CM Life will always be here," Livingston said. "As we hopefully return to normalcy, students have to know this is where your voice can be heard the loudest."
