Heeke, Patty earn MAC weekly awards
Seven innings, no runs 11 strikeouts -- that was the line for Central Michigan junior right-hander Jordan Patty on April 16.
That performance earned Patty the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week award. He wasn't the only Chippewa honored, however, as senior infielder Zach Heeke was named co-Player of the Week.
Where Patty was dominant on the mound, Heeke performed as such at the plate. Heeke earned nine hits in 13 at-bats and blasted his second career home run udirng the four-game MAC series against Kent State. He now has a seven-game hitting streak.
Patty, meanwhile, extended his scoreless inning streak to 25 2/3 with seven scoreless against Kent State in a 10-0 mercy victory. The win over the Golden Flashes improves his record to 4-1 and lowers his ERA to 2.19, which ranks third in the MAC.
The Chippewas currently are tied for first place with Ball State. CMU travels to Akron for a four-game series beginning at 3 p.m. Friday.
