Last week of voting for CMU SOAR Awards underway
The 2021 Student Organization Award Recognition (SOAR Awards) is accepting nominations until 11:45 pm Wednesday, March 31. The awards are meant to show support and appreciation for Central Michigan University's Registered Student Organizations.
Students can nominate an individual from their RSO or a particular RSO for any number of awards and recognition opportunities.
Winners, nominators and nominees will be invited to a spring ceremony at the UC Rotunda in April. The winners of the award will be notified via social media.
The voting process is online through Engage Central. Voters can complete a form and choose one or more nominees.
The categories are:
- Event of the Year: Any event that has made a substantial impact on the group and/or the community. This event could be educational or entertainment in nature.
- Best Collaborative Effort: Any instance where an RSO partnered with one or more different RSO’s to plan events, fundraisers, etc. that had a substantial impact on the members and/or the community.
- Outstanding Student Organization: Any RSO that has taken active steps in the recruitment process, has taken significant steps towards fulfilling their mission, and has hosted beneficial programming ventures for members and/or the community.
- Outstanding New Student Organization: Any new RSO, formed within the last twelve (12) months, that has taken significant steps in the recruitment process, has seen growth consistent with their recruitment efforts, and has made an effort to put on programs that will be beneficial to members and/or the community.
- Outstanding Contribution to the Community by a Student Organization: Any RSO that has shown dedicated service to the local, state, national or global communication and has seen a positive impact from the contribution.
- Outstanding Advisor Award: Any Advisor who has consistently made significant contributions to the RSO for more than 12 months.
- President of the Year: Presented to an individual who has excelled as the President of an organization, through the use of leadership and organization development. Nominees must have served a full term as president by the end of the academic year.
- Outstanding Executive Board Member: Presented to an individual who has excelled as an executive board member of an organization, through the use of leadership and organization development. Nominees must have served a full term in their role by the end of the academic year.
- Emerging Leader Award: An Emerging Leader has is an individual who has shown a significant amount of growth and has taken the initiative to step up and take on responsibility in their first year of the organization.
