Asian Pacific American Heritage Month events to be hosted virtually
The Multicultural Academic Student Services Office (MASS) is presenting virtual events for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month later this month.
The events will have a different theme each week. All are free and open to the CMU community.
Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, traditionally celebrated from March 1 - April 15 at CMU, is a time to commemorate the culture, tradition and history of Asians and Pacific Islanders in the United States.
“(Asian Pacific American Heritage Month) is a story that people need to hear,” Wade Tomson, Interim assistant director of MASS, said. "Celebrate and educate yourself on the culture."
CMU senior Chin Lee is active member of the Asian Cultural Organization and took part in planning Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
“I felt compelled to do so, to make a statement for my community that we are seen, heard and matter,” Lee said. "I felt that by doing so, I can help to address the political and racial unrest our nation faces.”
Students are asked to visit the MASS website to learn more about the Asian and Pacific Islander culture and be updated on upcoming events.
