Former Mount Pleasant swim coach arrested on CSC charge
A former Mount Pleasant Public Schools swim coach was arrested Wednesday on one charge of criminal second-degree sexual conduct with a 12-year-old girl.
David Alsager, 66, was arrested Feb. 26 by Mount Pleasant City Police. He is the husband of Mount Pleasant city commissioner Mary Alsager, who was elected to the commission in November. Officers began investigating Alsager after receiving a complaint about his behavior on Nov. 30, according to an MPPD press release.
Alsager’s arraignment date is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. on March 3 in the Isabella County Trial Court. He is currently out on bond.
According to an article from the Morning Sun, Alsager was involved with local youth swim organizations. He also coached at Mount Pleasant Public Schools and the Pacers Swim Club. According to an article from Up North Live, he coached the Mount Pleasant High School girls' swimming and diving team for more than a decade. He previously was a member of the Mount Pleasant Parks and Recreation commission.
