Count to gather data on homelessness in Isabella County to begin Wednesday
A local program will be conducting a count to get a snapshot of homelessness in Isabella and Gratiot counties starting Wednesday, Jan. 29.
For the next week, the Gratiot-Isabella Continuum of Care planning body will be conducting their annual Point In Time. The count will gather data to help understand the scope of homelessness in their communities.
The release said the count is important to give a voice to those who are homeless and gives the communities an effective way to combat the issue. It also said people experiencing homelessness can call 211 to complete a survey and get referred to appropriate resources.
The Continuum of Care Program is a "community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness," according to its website. It has branches in counties across the United States.
Vice Chair of the Isabella-Gratiot branch Bryan Chapman said the results from the PIT count likely won't be released until the summer.
