Ignite Donuts, a Central Michigan University New Venture company, is hosting a networking event for students interested in starting businesses and doing freelance work.

"Igniting CMU" takes place 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28 in the Bovee University Center Rotunda.

More than ten organizations will be present to connect with aspiring entrepreneurs, some of which helped Ignite Donuts become successful.

“It took a lot of ‘no’s’ before we finally got a ‘yes,’ but in all reality, it takes one ‘yes’ to get to the next step,” said Casey Croad, a co-owner of Ignite Donuts.

The event is also featuring President Bob Davies as a Keynote Speaker.

Beside being a networking event, "Igniting CMU" is a celebration of Ignite Donuts' recent expansion to campus. The company is selling doughnut kits in The Market on campus.

Croad said Special CMU-themed doughnut kits with a maroon glaze and golden dough will be sold at the event.

The purpose of the event is to provide student entrepreneurs with connections and mentorship.

“We started here at Central Michigan University and we want to be supportive of student ventures and freelancers," Croad said. "We are doing this to show students what resources here are available for them, whether it is on or off campus.”
