Central Michigan punter Brady Bruell kicks to Wisconsin Sept. 7 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.

After a strong performance against Big Ten Conference foe Wisconsin, sophomore punter Brady Buell has been recognized.

Buell was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 45.2 yards on his nine punts against the Badgers.

Last weekend's 61-0 loss at Camp Randall Stadium was Buell's second game as the Chippewas' starting punter, replacing Jack Sheldon.

Buell, a Traverse City native, hit his career long 52-yard punt in CMU's opener against Albany and is averaging 43.9 yards per punt with 11 punts on the young season.

The Chippewas host Akron for their MAC opener at 3 p.m. on Sept. 14 in Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
