2-year-old dies in Mount Pleasant mobile home fire
A 2-year-old boy died in a mobile home fire in Mount Pleasant Friday evening.
The fire was reported at 6:06 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16. The unit at Mount Pleasant Mobile Home Village, located at 505 South Bradley Street, was engulfed with flames when fire and police departments arrived at the scene, Mount Pleasant Police Officer Autume Balcom said.
Officers were informed that there was someone in the home, but firefighters were not able to locate the subject. Neighbors tried to enter the mobile home before officers arrived but suffered heavy smoke inhalation, Balcom said.
An adult male was treated for burns and smoke injuries, Balcom said.
More information will become available about the fire in the coming days. Suspicious activity is not expected at this time, Balcom said.
The Mount Pleasant Fire Department, Isabella County Sheriff's Office, Mount Pleasant Police Department and several ambulances reported to the scene.
