WCMU Public Television nominated for three Emmy awards
WCMU Public Television was nominated for three regional Emmy awards, including one in the Magazine Show category for its long-running program, "Destination Michigan."
The Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the nominees for 2019 on Wednesday, May 15.
Stefanie Mills, Matthew Ozanich and Steven Smith were nominated for the Community/Public Service category for a series of Native American stories. Ozanich was also nominated in the Talent/Program Host category for "Destination Michigan."
“The popularity of 'Destination Michigan' has grown exponentially over the years as it introduces viewers to the vibrancy of the people, places and events in the Great Lakes State,” Jim Rademaker, interim general manager of WCMU Public Media, said in a press release.
WCMU Public Television has been nominated 14 times for regional Emmys, and won in 2018, said Steve Smith, senior producer and marketing specialist for WCMU.
The awards ceremony will be Saturday, June 15 in Detroit.
