Volunteer center to host social justice and leadership conference
Promoting conversations about civic engagement and community activism is what this conference is all about.
The Mary Ellen Brandell Volunteer Center is hosting their 18th Annual Issue Day Social Justice and Leadership Conference on Saturday, Oct. 27.
The conference is to take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon in Pearce Hall and is open to all current and future Central Michigan University students.
After registration, the conference will begin with a presentation from keynote speaker Cherie Strachan, professor of political science and public administration and the assistant dean for the College of Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences.
After her presentation, participants will then attend the first of two chosen speaker sessions. There is a total of 10 different speaker sessions that each attendee can choose from. The sessions will discuss important topics like domestic violence and voting.
Doughnuts, coffee and juice will be provided for participants and there will be a 15 minute break in between speaker sessions.

8:30-9:00 a.m. - Registration
9:05-9:50 a.m. - Keynote Speaker Presentation
10:00-10:45 a.m. - Speaker Session I
10:45-11:00 a.m. - Break
11:00-11:45 a.m. - Speaker Session II
11:50-12:00 a.m. - Closing Comments and Reflection
