Lexi Pelafas earns MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for second time
For the second time this season, Central Michigan soccer’s Lexi Pelafas has been honored as the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
The senior netted three goals while adding two assists over the weekend in a 6-1 loss against Michigan and a 5-0 win over Oakland.
A majority of her damage came against the Golden Grizzlies where she scored in the 70th and 89th minute. She assisted each of CMU’s first two goals in the contest. She scored in the 70th minute as well against the Wolverines to help CMU avoid being shutout.
Pelafas is nearly averaging a goal per game with six goals on the season in the Chippewas first seven games. The Wheaton, Illinois native leads the MAC in shots (28), points (14) and is tied with Toledo’s Hannah Scafaria for the most goals in the league.
This is the fourth time in Pelafas’ career she has earned the conference’s offensive player of the week award.
The Chippewas will welcome Illinois-Chicago on Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. to the CMU Soccer Complex for Senior Day.
