The Wellspring Literary Series will host poet Tommye Blount tonight reading his work at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 2, at the Art Reach of Mid Michigan, Morely Family gallery downtown Mount Pleasant 111 E. Broadway St.
The series was founded in 2008, by Central Michigan University English Language and Literature faculty member and poet Robert Fanning.
Fanning described the event as a place that “provides an opportunity for CMU students and members of the community to listen to the work of prominent Michigan poets and writers.”
"(It) makes for a great cultural experience and a fun evening on the town," Fanning said.
Blount is a writer from Detroit and the 2017 Kresge Artist Literary Foundation Fellow. His work has received numerous scholarships and been printed in several publications.
Admission is free and food will be served on the behalf of Max & Emily’s, a restaurant downtown Mount Pleasant.
