Entering Friday night's opening game in the Marquette Invitational, Marquette had gone just over 200 minutes without giving up a goal.

The Central Michigan soccer team did not end that streak.

By the end of CMU's 1-0 loss to the Golden Eagles, that number increased to 290 minutes while giving Marquette their third straight shutout.

After being outshot 3-8 in the first half, CMU recovered in the second half. At the end of 90 minutes, they recorded 15 shots to Marquette's 12.

Junior forward Lexi Pelafas lead the Chippewas with four shots on goal, followed by junior midfielder Madison Pogarch with three. Junior goalkeeper Zoie Reed finished with five saves and allowed the lone goal.

Central Michigan falls to 2-2-1 on the season following the loss. Loyola is on deck for the Chippewas in two days. The match is set to kickoff at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3.
