Central Michigan volleyball finished its run in the Chippewa Challenge with a 3-0 sweep over IUPUI.

The Chippewas took the first set 25-23. Senior Jordan Bueter contributed nine kills while senior Courtney Hiltibran, junior Emily Wenglowski and sophomore Megan Kern each added a team-high three digs in the first set. Freshman Kalina Smith added an ace.

Carrying a 1-0 lead into the second set, the Chippewas jumped out to an early 7-2 run, claiming momentum early until the Jaguars went on a 5-0 run, forcing a Chippewa timeout. A 7-2 run was the story following the timeout, but IUPUI struck back and forced a 20-20 tie late in the set.

Set two continued to be a back-and-forth between both teams until Bueter added her 16 kills of the match for a 31-29 win and a 2-0 lead.

The third set was another back-and-forth run until CMU found momentum halfway into the set to take the lead and force a IUPUI timeout. The Jaguars responded by rallying back to cut their deficit in half, trailing 20-17. The Chippewas answered with a 5-0 run to clinch the set and the match.

Five of CMU’s nine blocks of the match were in the third set.
