Flood relief registration ends Oct. 2

Residents have until Oct. 2 to register for state and federal disaster assistance. 

Aid is available for homeowners and renters in Bay, Gladwin, Isabella and Midland counties who suffered damage from the flooding that occurred in June, according to a FEMA release. Assistance can include money for rent, essential home repairs, property losses and other serious disaster-related needs not covered by insurance.

To apply visit www.DisasterAssistance.gov, the FEMA smart phone app or by calling 800-621-3362. Those who use 711 or video relay services can call 800-621-3362. 

Operators are multilingual and calls are answered every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Due to the recent hurricanes, there could be delays on the FEMA helpline. 

Residents may also visit the recovery center at 4855 E. Bluegrass Road. Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration are also at the center to provide information about SBA low-interest disaster assistance loans for homeowners, renters, businesses and certain private nonprofits recover.
