Justus League RSO to host outdoor music festival
The Justus League registered student organization will host its first-ever music festival, the Festival of Justus, from 6-9 p.m. Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29 in Anspach Hall Room 161.
The event is free and open to the public.
Detroit junior and Event Coordinator Daryl Wallace said the hip-hop organization wanted to have an event where everyone could relax and take their minds off the budget cuts and finals.
The bands and artists have already been promoting the event, so the RSO is expecting a good turnout.
The first day will feature alternative and acoustic artists. The second day will feature poetry, hip-hop, R&B and hip-hop dance. Wallace will be performing hip-hop on the second day.
Detroit junior and Justus League President the RSO Ahsha Davis will host the second day. She will also be performing poetry.
Wallace said more than 15 people will perform at the event. Local bands include The Pleasant Dwellers, Car Crash Rhetoric and Max Baker and the Business.
As a three-year member, Wallace has seen the RSO grow significantly in the past few years. Ideas are beginning to turn into events and the events are beginning to gain recognition. He said the RSO has around 10 members now.
“It’s cool to have a music festival on our campus, like in our own backyard,” Wallace said. “It’s showing the talent that our local artists have.”
