Central Michigan University's Relay For Life and Isabella County Relay For Life have teamed up to bring the community a “Bark For Life” event on Saturday, April 15.

The American Cancer Society event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at Hannah’s Bark Park, 1458 North Harris St., in Mount Pleasant.

The event is free to the public, but registration is encouraged. Participants can register online at main.acsevents.org. Individual registration is $10, and registration for a person and their dog is $15. Owners who register their dog must have the dog registered in Isabella County. This registration will also allow the person one week admittance into Hannah’s Bark Park. Dogs brought to the event must have their rabies vaccine, as their owners will be asked to show proof of the shot by showing the rabies tag or dog registration.

The event schedule is as follows:

  • 11 a.m.: Set up
  • 11:30 a.m.: Registration begins
  • Noon: Opening ceremony & walk through Mission Creek trails
  • 1 p.m.: Remembering ceremony
  • 1:30 p.m.: AKC agility course
  • 2 p.m.: St. Vincent and the Wingless Creatures
  • 2:30 p.m.: Dog trick contest
  • 3:30 p.m.: Fight back ceremony

Bark For Life is a noncompetitive walk for dogs and their owners to raise funds for the fight against cancer. The event also honors the caregiving qualities of dogs.

Even though the event is for dogs and their owners, participants do not need to have a dog to participate in the walk.
