Marcus Keene named to Top 20 list for John Wooden Award
Marcus Keene has been on a tear for the Central Michigan men's basketball team all season.
Now, the nation's leading scorer has caught the attention of the entire college basketball world. The junior guard was named to the Top 20 list for the prestigious John R. Wooden award, which is given to the nation's top player.
Keene leads the country in scoring averaging 30.7 points per game. He also leads the nation 40-point games with five and 14 30-point games. He has scored 736 points this year and is just 24 points away from breaking the record for most points scored in a season held by Dan Majerle.
The 5-foot-9 guard has garnered national attention for several performances this season. He scored 50 points in a 101-92 win against Miami (Oh) on Jan. 21 and hit the game-winning 3-pointer against rival Western Michigan on Feb. 3.
The star guard dropped 41 points against Ohio Tuesday night to help the Chippewas improve to 6-5 in the Mid-American Conference.
