80-year-old woman killed in accident
Mount Pleasant Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at a Mount Pleasant restaurant on Sunday.
A 69-year-old man was backing out of the parking lot of Culver's at East Pickard Street just after 6 p.m. when he ran over an 80-year-old Remus woman.
Public Information Officer Jeff Browne said alcohol and speed are not considered to be factors in the accident.
"I don't know how to describe it," Browne said. "It's just bad."
The woman has been identified as Janet Parks. The incident remains under investigation. The results of the investigation will be turned over to the Isabella County Prosecutor's Office, who will decide whether to press charges against the driver, Browne said.
Parks' funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Remus. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday.
